Science fiction / Fantasy book suggestions?
Books that start off with the main character ,a teenager or boy, in a normal life boring life (for the story things like a farmer etc) then he gets pulled into an adventure he becomes a master at something magic sword boy martial arts etc examples of books like these are
-Magician by Feist
-Eragon
-The legend of Drizzt (I don’t really care if the main character grows up as long as it starts when hes a boy)
-Natural Ordermage
-Colors of white
-Percy Jackson
-The Sea of Trolls
-The Witches Revenge
-Chrestomanci – Diana Wayne Jones (though they weren’t very good =/)
-Bartimaeus Trilogy
-The Wheel of Time
-Halo: The Fall of Reach
-Furies of Calderon – Jim Butcher
-Dragon Master – Chris Bunch
-Wizards First Rule – Goodman
-Shanara books
-Darren Shan
So Basically as long as they’re under 20 preferably younger and growing up so the story takes place over a period of time as they’re skills progress and male Ive read enough books with female main characters lately the books can be with more advanced technology then the books Ive names genetic enhancements etc work fine to
Truthfully I don’t think there are many books out there like this I havent read those are only the names of the ones that come to mind Ive read quite a few more but If you think of any Id very much appreciate so I don’t have to spend another day in the bookstore or library looking for a book like this I haven’t read = / I’m very picky in what I read =( though I love to read

The night angel trilogy is good the books are “The way of the shadows” “Shadows edge” and “Beyond the shadows” by Brent weeks. Great books but has alot of bad language… It starts out with Azoth a young boy who is in a guild called the black dragon clan and soon a legendary Assassin takes him in as his apprentice…. Its a really good book.

Try the series “The Belgariad” by David Eddings, a very popular writer.

He’s also written other series and stand-alone books, but this meets your criteria – more or less!

You’ve already read lots of the ones that I was going to suggest, but luckily I have some more suggestions:
The Septimus Heap series by Angie Sage
(Magyk, Flyte, Physik, Queste)
Here is the blurb from the back of Magyk:
The seventh son of the seventh son, aptly named Septimus Heap, is stolen the night he is born by a midwife who pronounces him dead. That same night, the baby”s father, Silas Heap, comes across a bundle in the snow containing a new born girl with violet eyes. The Heaps take this helpless newborn into their home, name her Jenna, and raise her as their own. But who is this mysterious baby girl, and what really happened to their beloved son Septimus? The first book in this enthralling new series by Angie Sage leads readers on a fantastic journey filled with quirky characters and magykal charms, potions, and spells. Magyk is an original story of lost and rediscovered identities, rich with humor and heart.
Ranger’s Apprentice series by John Flanagan
(The Ruins of Gorlan, The Burning Bridge, The Icebound Land, The Battle for Skandia, Sorcerer of the North, The Siege of Macindaw, The Kings of Clonmel)
The Dead Days Omnibus by Marcus Sedgwick
Here is the blurb from the back of the book:
The days between 27 December and New Year’s Eve are dead days, when spirits roam and magic shifts restlessly just beneath the surface of our everyday lives. There is a man, Valerian, whose time is running out, who must pay the price for the pact he made with evil so many years ago. His servant is Boy, a child with no name and no past; a child he treats with contempt, but who serves his master well and finds solace in the company of his only friend, Willow. Unknown to any of them it is Boy who holds the key to their destiny. But before that is revealed, Boy and Willow are held captive in the palace of the Emperor Frederick. Here they are plunged into a world of gilded finery and splendor. Beneath the golden veneer lies cruelty and madness. They are in terrible danger as they confront the whirlwind furies of the Emperor, the calculating ambitions of his confidante, Maxim, and follow a trail which will lead them to the murderous Phantom. THE BOOK OF DEAD DAYS and THE DARK FLIGHT DOWN are mesmerizing stories of sorcery and desperate magic spanning dark cities, deadly courtrooms, and the threatening, frozen countryside. The truth about Valerian’s past, Boy’s identity and many other shattering secrets are laid bare as the Book of Dead Days is opened for the final time…
Monster Blood Tattoo series by C.M. Cornish
(Foundling, Lamplighter)
Here is the blurb from the back of Foundling:
Meet Rossamünd—a foundling, a boy with a girl’s name who is about to begin a dangerous life in the service of the Emperor of the Half-Continent.
What starts as a simple journey becomes a dangerous and complicated set of battles and decisions. Humans, monsters, unearthly creatures . . . who among these can Rossamünd trust?
The Tapestry series by Henry Neff
(The Hounds of Rowan, The Siege) (similar to Harry Potter)
The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
(Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) (if you haven’t already read them)
I hope this helps and happy reading!!!!!!!

I think that you will love the books of Lawrence Watt-Evans. He writes many books that are almost exactly what you want. I particularly recommend With a Single Spell and Taking Flight. You will also probably like his Obsidian Trilogy, too.

Hi, you might want to try my own recently published book, entitled “The Tales of Tanglewood: The Lon Dubh Whistle”, lightly influenced by Irish folklore and Celtic mythology.
You can download the first three chapters for free, at http://www.talesoftanglewood.com
Within the pages of the book, readers will discover Colin, a child who is fully aware of the hidden world of myth and wonder hiding within the woods just beyond his home, long kept secret by old magic. Only the fey magic which runs through his veins has enabled Colin to find what others cannot; the Tanglewood, the ‘wood within the woods.
Full of odd characters and creatures of the fey, the Tanglewood is a world of magnificent folklore come to life. As Colin begins to explore the Tanglewood, he will find friendship with the ferrish Ailfrid, the elfin girl Deidre, and Doc Muffingrow, a wise druid.
Colin will also find that there is much magic in himself, as well as dangerous enemies who will not let him find solace in the wood so easily. Ailil, King of the Sprites and ruler of The Below, has laid claim to his spirit, and Colin will need the help of his friends and quite a bit of magic to save himself.
The Tanglewood is a place like no other, and Colin is a boy like no other. Throughout his adventures, he will uncover the secret of the fey blood within him, and help dispel the poisonous corruption and hidden dangers that threaten the inhabitants of the wood and the Tanglewood itself.
